The Super Mildew is being developed as an anti-red weed agent. Normal mildew is a white fungus that slowly eats and dissolves vegetable and animal products. Super mildew is catalysed and the reaction is much accelerated.
The grenade is constructed in a similar manner to the Mongolian Death Worm Grenade and on detonation covers the area in Super Mildew which starts to dissolve vegetable/animal products into a white residue. Delicate fabrics such as silk or velvet dissolve almost immediately whereas tougher fabrics such as leather, canvas or rope etc may take longer to degrade. Anything touching something affected with super mildew within 3 rounds is in danger of getting infected themselves.
This grenade was designed for use against fabric airships but also doubles as an effective non-lethal anti-personnel weapon. A naked soldier is an ineffective soldier.
Jack Calloway writes: Of course the potential social embarrassment that this could cause if say let off in a society ball or event doesn't bare thinking about.
